Schaffhausen, Switzerland, Friday, July 19, 2019 – During our Summer Event we take a boat ride along the banks of the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen. The spectacular falls offers a refreshing spray of water. Next stop is Stein am Rhein, a beautiful town known for its medieval half-timbered houses. By boat we get to Steckborn, a small town on the south bank of the of Lake Constance. In the beautiful garden, adjacent to the lake, we have lunch in the Lake & Park Hotel Feldbad. After lunch, we explore the Carthusian monastery in Ittingen.
About the Rhine Falls
The Rhine Falls are 150 metres wide and 23 metres high and is the most powerful waterfall in Europe, located next to the town of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland.The basin is 13 metres deep and in summer time, approximately 600’000 litres flow per second over the falls. The Rhine Falls were formed in the last ice age, approximately 14,000 to 17,000 years ago, by erosion-resistant rocks narrowing the riverbed. Since 1983 Rhine Falls and its environment are in the state inventory for countryside and natural monuments of national importance.
